#DailyMojo | Sharran Srivatsaa
Everyone wants to know the short-cuts to success. I don’t know why this is a bad thing per se. I see this as a seek and destroy mission…
1. We know what we want (can’t achieve something when you don’t know what you want)
2. We kinda know how to get there but we either see some hurdles or when we think about how long its going to take its seems less inspiring so we want to do “research” (talking to mentors, going to conferences/seminars, hiring a coach, building a mastermind group) if we can find a better/faster path to the goal (makes sense)
3. We are doing research often to make ourselves feel better about our path (validation, totally ok), get motivated, implement a hack, create momentum whatever… all on the path to achieving what we know we want. (makes sense)
Smart people always go out looking for a ways to do things more effectively… to get a result that they want faster. Heck, the high-achievers have figured out the short-cuts. I don’t over analyze the positive/negative connotations of the words “short cut” and I don’t place a lot of value in the worldly advice of “there are no short-cuts”.
I have actually flipped my mindset on this topic and when someone asks me for a “short cut” I am deeply intrigued… regardless of whether its just their laziness speaking to me. It helps me think creatively and see if there is a more efficient way to get the same result.
Take all the short-cuts you can… stand on the shoulders of giants, hire a coach, find a mentor that has been there… when you can “buy” speed you win… hopefully, without cutting corners of course.
