[00:00:00] Hey, this is Sharran Srivatsaa. Welcome back to the Business School Podcast. And today I’m gonna give you the secret to winning at life, not just business life. I’m going to show you why this is the only game worth playing, how it was never really possible before, and exactly what to do starting today. Aha, in under four minutes.

[00:00:16] Now, this may just be the most valuable episode that you’ll hear this year because once you get this, you will stop. Chasing every random opportunity and start building a life around the only thing, the only thing that no one else can compete with, which is you, I break it down all step by step for you starting right now.

[00:00:40] One thing is for certain. Just because it’s tried and true doesn’t mean it’s working right now. So the big question is this, where can you learn what is working right now? The strategies, the tactics, the psychology, and the exact how to, how to grow your business, how to blow up your personal brand and supercharge your personal growth.

[00:01:02] That is the question, and this podcast will give you the answer. My name is Sharran Srivatsaa and Welcome to Business School.

[00:01:15] So in this episode, I wanna do something different for you, and I actually wrote, uh, an essay, an article on my substack, and I want to read it for you because this is unlike what I normally do, but it is so important to me that it’s short, it’s sweet. I think we’ll get the point across. Think of it like a Sharran style audiobook for a second.

[00:01:33] But I wanna read this to you because I don’t think I could riff or say this naturally any better than what I read it. So please, let me read you how you get paid to be yourself. So here we go. Get paid to be yourself, because why? That’s the only game worth playing. The quote, Self-Made Man is a beautiful lie.

[00:01:52] We idealized the guy who built it from nothing, who did it all himself, who never asked for help, who worked harder than anyone else. And yeah, effort matters, but misplaced effort is just. Burnout in a suit, because here’s the truth, no one wants to say you don’t get extra credit for doing it the hard way.

[00:02:15] Okay. That hit me hard. You don’t get extra credit for doing it the hard way. The goal was never to do it all. I. Most people spend their best years proving they can do everything. They try to be the COO, the designer, the marketer, and the janitor. They say yes to every opportunity. They build businesses that don’t even look like them, and then they call that being, quote, self-made, but it’s not.

[00:02:39] It’s just being tired with a better looking LinkedIn profile. So what is the real goal? The real goal is to get paid, to be yourself. To solve problems you can’t help but solve. To study what you can’t pull yourself away from, to remove or to delegate everything that doesn’t feel like a creative challenge.

[00:02:59] You don’t wait for this life to magically show up. You build it one hour at a time. Work ethic is sacred, pointed at the right thing. Let’s be clear. This is not about working less. Work ethic is sacred, but only if you point it at something sacred. This isn’t a shortcut. This is a strategy. When you double down on work that feels like you, your effort compounds, you stop needing motivation, you stop needing accountability.

[00:03:26] You just start feeling in momentum because nobody can outwork you at being yourself. That’s really good because nobody can outwork you at being yourself. We are living in the golden age of you. Your grandfather couldn’t do this. Your parents couldn’t either, and honestly, you couldn’t really do it 10 years ago.

[00:03:45] We live in the golden age of getting paid to be yourself. AI can now do the work of 10 employees. Automation can eliminate human error. Platforms existed. Distribute your story to millions of people. This is the first time in history where. You can build once and earn forever, where you can scale with systems, not a bunch of stress, where you can monetize your identity, not just your labor.

[00:04:08] But this doesn’t mean slacking off. It doesn’t mean becoming a personal brand with clearly no value. It means solving the problems you can’t help but solve at scale with tools your ancestors would’ve killed to have today. You are not late, you’re lucky. So act like it. Enter the all in hour. I call it the all in hour.

[00:04:29] It starts small. Just one hour of day of doing the work that makes you feel like you not busy work, not clutter in your calendar, not quote, this might just be useful later, nonsense. Just the work you do for free, because it challenges you, it moves you, it makes you better. That hour then becomes two. Two becomes your core calendar.

[00:04:53] Your core calendar becomes your company, and eventually every second you’re awake. Looks like that hour. Because the old path versus a new path is the question. The old self-made a millionaire next door did these three things. They, they do it all. They burn out in silence and they wear, you wear your struggle as a badge of honor.

[00:05:12] But the new self-made, we solve the problems. You are only wired to solve. You design your life are on your obsession, and you get paid to be yourself in a lot of ways. That’s the new flex, that’s the new freedom. And that’s why the self-made myth should have meant all along. So here’s the one final question.

[00:05:32] If you could only keep a one hour on your calendar, which hour would you fight to protect? That is your all in hour. So I would start there. I would protect it, and I would build around it and let that hour become your life. That was under four minutes. You probably watched it, uh, listened to this in one and a half, two x speed.

[00:05:50] So that was probably under two minutes. But from a da, from a word density perspective, I really have been thinking about this big idea of why [00:06:00] now is I. Important to get paid to be yourself and why that is the only game worth playing because this whole self-made man, self-made woman thing is a beautiful lie.

[00:06:10] So I wanted to read that for you. I hope that was helpful to you. I think that you sharing it with your teammate, with your partner, with your friend, with the fellow creative is the answer to all of this. So all I ask is that one, if you’re interested in reading this, uh, you could go to my substack, it’s called the Next Billion on substack.com.

[00:06:27] Just search for Sharran and look at this article about this essay that I wrote on getting paid to Be Yourself. Because a big part of this was me writing this for myself. This was a coaching piece that I wrote for myself, a thinking piece that I wrote for myself and I thought I would share with you. So remember, get paid to be yourself because that is the only game that’s worth playing right now.

[00:06:46] Hey, if you like this, please take a screenshot and tag me. That way I can make more like this for you. And if you wanna actually read this article and share it, go to my substack and you can share it. Everything that I do for free, get Paid to Be Yourself. Catch on the next one.
